A Systematic Catalogue of Design Solutions for the Regeneration of Urban Environment Contrasting the Climate Change Impact

Abstract The article illustrates a research for the definition of catalogue design solutions climate change adaptation in process urban regeneration, reducing vulnerability to impacts and increasing city resilience. Based on analysis relevant case studies architectural projects main biogeographical regions Europe, paper describes methodology applied construction spatial technological adaptive models mainly focusing category “nature-based solutions” but also considering “artificial solutions”. In order assess their effectiveness, different alternatives are tested specific contest (a school courtyard City Scandicci–Metropolitan Florence) prone hazards heat islands pluvial flooding, simulating impact more vulnerable user (children between 11 14 years old). For an adequate performance evaluation multi-hazard effectiveness solutions, appropriate IT software procedural have been applied: ENVI-met microclimatic simulation thermal predictive method hydraulic assessment. By comparing results before after application, climate-adaptive alternative is measured through indicators.
